Challenges are stepping stones in project execution

“It has been 14 years since I started working at Bühler. I find it amazing that I have been working with one organization for more than a dozen years already. I started as a project engineer, and have been promoted step by step to my current position as the Director of Project Execution for Bühler Grains & Food in China.”

There from start to finish

“To be honest, I couldn’t image that I would be leading a team of more than 110 engineers for project implementations in 20-plus countries for a dozen business units of Bühler, especially in a business sector traditionally dominated by men. But why not? My 20-plus years as a specialist in the grains and food industry was built upon my education and work experience.”

What I really love is that we work with our customers all the way throughout project execution, dealing with difficulties and challenges as one team until we reach final project success.

“My experience in field cases of project execution at Bühler gave me all the confidence and competence needed to do this job well. I enjoy challenges and I wish to continuously develop myself. I feel gratitude that the company has enabled me to experience both. It’s not really an easy job, but challenges shall never be the stones in my way. They are not obstacles, they are stepping stones to success. We are handling over 120 projects this year, ranging from quotation to engineering, installation, and through to the final hand-over to the customers.

The deliveries go not only to China, but to South East Asia, and Africa. What I really love is that we work with our customers all the way throughout project execution, dealing with difficulties and challenges as one team until we reach final project success. High project quality and customer satisfaction are always our utmost targets. It is such a great honor when we see satisfaction and appreciation in the eyes of our customers.”

Staying up-to-date with training

“It is vital that we understand the pains and gains of our customers, in order to contribute true value to them. Therefore, efficient communication along the complete value chain of project execution have to be been maintained. And, continuous trainings have been implemented to ensure my team and I are always up-to-date with the latest innovations. Teamwork internally across regions, departments, and cultures has becomes routine for us, as I believe optimal solutions are inspired during discussions with all great minds.

We are very proud that Bühler spends nearly 5% of turnover for research and development on a yearly basis. With the opening of its CUBIC innovation campus in Switzerland, it is further confirming that our leading position will be secured through continuous innovation.

I am still a project engineer at heart, no matter which title the company might honor me. My team and I are dealing with customer needs every day. This is the focus of our professional lives, as we are all ambassadors for Bühler and its values.”
