Matthias Kaiserswerth studied computer science at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) and McGill University in Montreal (Canada). He earned his Ph.D. in engineering from Friedrich-Alexander University.
From 1988 to 2015, Dr. Kaiserswerth worked at IBM, dedicating most of his career to research in high-performance communication and security. For over eleven years, he served as Director of the IBM Research Lab in Rüschlikon, Switzerland.
From 2015 to 2024, he was the managing director of the Hasler Foundation, a non-profit organization in Berne, Switzerland that promotes education, research, and innovation in information and communication technologies.
Since 2019, he has been the Chairman of the Board at Abraxas Informatik AG, a leading IT company serving the public sector in Switzerland.
Dr. Kaiserswerth, born in 1956, holds both Swiss and German citizenship.
