Bühler supports launch of One Young World Switzerland

Uzwil (Switzerland), June 29, 2022 – Swiss Bühler Group is proud to support the One Young World Organization (OYW), headquartered in London, in the next step of its journey to empower the world’s future leaders, with the formation of the first National Board in Switzerland. OYW’s aim is to identify, promote, and connect young leaders to create a better world, with more responsible and more effective leadership. Switzerland has been selected for the first National Board as a nation that fosters innovation, celebrates strong values, and leads the way in supporting the education and development of its youth. The heart of One Young World Switzerland will be located in Arosa, Graubünden, and will develop the Swiss network by bringing together talented young people, companies, and entrepreneurs.

Today’s world faces many challenges. Climate change, the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources, and growing social inequality cause great concern, particularly among young people. Many feel disenfranchised and disillusioned by greenwashing and inaction. However, the will and the opportunities for positive change are there. “Businesses and organizations have the experience and resources to bring about change while passionate young leaders bring visibility to important issues and contribute new perspectives and creative ideas. However, too often we are afraid to engage in a constructive dialogue. This is exactly where One Young World comes in,” says Kate Robertson, CEO and Co-founder of One Young World who will join the board of OYW Switzerland.

To support the dialogue between the generations a strong management team has been put in place that shares the same values. The National Board in Switzerland will be headed by Bühler Group’s CEO Stefan Scheiber together with Pascal Jenny, President of Arosa Tourism, and Kate Robertson. OYW Switzerland will be managed by Jessica Jones. Jones, a OYW ambassador, attended the OYW summit in London in 2019 and has successfully managed two OYW Caucuses in Switzerland. She is also involved in the OYW working group for corporate change movements. Jones previously worked as a management trainee at Bühler Group.

The commission’s vision is supported by a detailed framework. The annual OYW Switzerland Caucus being held on June 29-30, 2022, brings together young leaders, mentors and speakers with a focus on designing tangible action and devising first steps towards sustainability and positive social impact. Furthermore, a community of young leaders from various industries and organizations, functions, and interests from across Switzerland will be built to provide a supportive network. Another important driver will be the establishment of new supportive partnerships connecting and collaborating with the young leaders to accelerate impact.

OYW Switzerland can also draw on the experience and support of current ambassadors, partners, communities, and organizations in Switzerland. The enthusiasm for the new initiative and the location in Switzerland is shared by the board. “We are excited to announce Switzerland as the first National Board of One Young World. Stefan Scheiber’s commitment to supporting young leaders and driving socially responsible leadership paired with Switzerland’s progressive culture make it a perfect location. I look forward to working with the team and accompanying them on this journey,” says Robertson.

Jones agrees: “Switzerland is in a unique position to foster an inspired generation. The excellent dual education system, outstanding academic institutions, innovative and passionate companies as well as charitable organizations that make a difference across the world provide a fertile environment. Together with the community of One Young World Switzerland, we believe this is a huge force for social good. The time to act is now. With young people playing a leading role we have a powerful lever for change. At our Caucus in June, we focus on actions we can take immediately to drive impact.”
